Blake Griffin offensive foul/dunk on Marcin Gortat 3-20-11

This season has been the most ridiculous in terms of what constitutes every level of fouls called. Because of David Stern's enforcement for "Respect of the Game" players are practically unable to react naturally after plays of high emotion.

What's most outrageous in this clip is the fact that Griffin receives a technical for not keeping his composure after a very questionable call. To add to this matter is the already high emotions of a winding down fourth quarter, which begs the question as to how are players expected to play with heart when they are penalized so often for it? There is a big difference in a technical deserved (confrontational gestures) and being horrified by a unbelievable call. Yet the severity is the same. This is no longer a matter of respecting the game but over-regulation. Along with soccer, basketball is a sport that heavily relies on referees meant to monitor the game, not teach behavior. This strictness should have been authorized 20 years ago, when the league was at its peak of an image crisis. Times have certainly changed, and once again the NBA has clearly fallen behind.
